Ishvara Pranidhana means to offer your life or to surrender to God or humanity. This is about dedicating our lives to serve the world at large. I resisted this concept for a while when I first started studying yoga until I read a translation that included humanity.

This notion of living my life for the benefit of others, similar to the Buddhist notion of the bodhisattva – someone who remains on earth to help others become enlightened – is a hard, but aspirational way to live!
