TRANSFORM CHAOS INTO CLARITY
LEAD FROM PURPOSE, BUILD A POWERFUL TEAM, AND CREATE A LEGACY YOU’RE PROUD TO LEAVE BEHIND.
HOW YOU SHOW UP
IS THE CULTURE.
Habits are the invisible structure underneath it. I help leaders build them with neuroscience, presence, and a lot of heart, so their culture holds when the world won’t stop shifting.
Habits are the culture. Presence is how it gets built.
Your daily habits are the architecture of your culture.
The invisible structure that holds a culture together is habit.
People deserve leadership that is fully expressed, deeply human, and radically alive.
THE MISSION
I am a neuroscientist who studies and guides habits in teams, systems and relationships. I help people & their teams connect their daily habits to their Big Juicy Why—so they can lead their personal and professional lives with clarity, regulate their nervous systems, and build lives and businesses rooted in purpose, pleasure, impact and powerful connection.
Through a mix of mindset science, habit design, and conscious leadership, I guide people to like themselves more, trust themselves deeper, and take bold, aligned action—at work, at home, and in community.

EDGE:
STORIES FROM THE GROUND
Tamsin was the Emcee for our plenary sessions at the Midwest Coaches Conference in September 2026.
As the chair of the committee that put on the event, I had the great pleasure to work with her in the months leading up to the event and the joy of interacting with her for a few days onsite.
She brought amazing creativity to the process.
She is great at ideation and then knows when to move into action. I found this combination to be dynamic for what we were trying to achieve.
It also meant that our meetings were collaborative, fun, and action-oriented.
Tamsin is a consumate professional and I sense simply a wonderful human being. I highly recommend her for any speaking engagement.
I met Tamsin in 2019 & I’ve been fortunate to have her as my executive coach for many years. She has also worked with my team to run strategic planning events, through the lens of Clifton Strengths, given a keynote at one of our conferences.
What keeps me coming back is that she coaches the whole person, not just the job title. I came to her running on leftover energy — saying yes to everything while carrying a CEO role, teaching, my own business, and volunteer leadership all at once — and she helped me get honest about what that was actually costing me.
She never handed me a generic productivity system: she helped me build habits that fit my real life, like pausing before I commit to anything.
What sets Tamsin apart is that her coaching sticks. She’s warm and she listens closely, but she’ll also gently call you on the story you’re telling yourself.
PROBLEM-SOLVING APPROACH
“In my work life I always have a problem-solving approach. I wasn’t doing that in my home life. That approach—looking at what’s working and what’s not working-has created a big shift that’s made ALL the difference.
I’ve changed the structures around it. Made new habits. I have learned to get our of the ruts. Questioning the assumptions of the habit, is that thinking useful? Just because I’ve been doing something for fifteen years doesn’t mean it’s intractable!”
Tamsin recently wrote and presented a fantastic conference session for our neuroscience-informed global community of mBraining coaches. Her presentation was on ‘Pause-Notice-Choose’ and it inspired and promoted us in so many ways. How Tamsin manages to be funny, informative, pragmatic all at the same time is a particularly valuable skill and everyone is still buzzing from her session. We hope she will be open to speaking again, as communicating science in a clear and compelling way is essential to helping us continue our learning. I recommend Dr Astor’s talks in the highest possible terms – she is a superstar!

The 5 Yamas – or Yoga’s Golden Rules: 4) Brahmacharya
The fourth of the five Yamas is brahmacharya, which translates often as celibacy or continence. This can be debated on many levels and some of the older discussions go into the withholding of seminal fluid or feminine sexual energy and how it can be translated into...
The 5 Yamas – or Yoga’s Golden Rules: 3) Asteya
The third of the five is Yamas is Asteya, means non-stealing or non-grasping. In the wonderful commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (which lays out the practice of yoga, of which the Eight limbs are a part), Sri Swami Satchidananda describes Satya and Asteya as...

The 5 Yamas – or Yoga’s Golden Rules: 2) Satya
The second of the five Yamas is Satya, which means truthfulness. This is really about whether you engage with people in a way that means you are being honest and truthful. Can you live a life of truthfulness? There are some discussions of these ancient yogic texts...
The 5 Yamas – or Yoga’s Golden Rules: 1) Ahimsa
The first of the five yama’s which are essentially a set of ethical standards about how you treat others, is ahimsa. The pre-fix ‘a’ in Sanskrit, like in English indicates ‘non’ or without. So the word AHIMSA translates as non-violence or not causing pain. This yama...

The 8 Limbs of Yoga
There are eight limbs of yoga - ashtanga (ashta - 8, anga - limbs). My favorite book to discuss this is BKS Iyengar’s book The Tree of Yoga. In it he articulates the eight limbs as parts of a tree and draws this beautiful analogy between the elements of yoga and the...
