This is a task that I generally dislike intensely – but only one stage of it! Interestingly – I don’t object to carrying the baskets to the basement. I don’t mind sorting the clothes out according to color/washing instructions. I don’t mind jogging up and down the basement steps to move the clothes between the washing machine and dryer etc. The bit I dislike it the sorting. The next is the folding and the bit I REALLY REALLY dislike is the putting away!

So….

I tried to develop strategies to make it feel better.
I reflected on my clothes, the experiences I had when I was wearing them, where I had bought them, gratitude for the journey my clothes had taken to get to my cupboard etc.

But none of these approaches really worked. I only liked doing that when I was super tired – I felt I had accomplished a task, which was fine when I had newborn babies! So, I went back to the drawing board.
