When things fall apart, it’s really easy to just feel like crap. To blame. To give up. To turn to numbing activities.

But, there is another approach: to celebrate the breaks.

In Japan, there is a practice, called Kintsugi, where pottery is glued back together again with gold-infused glue. This highlights the breaks – celebrating them. I feel like this is a celebration of the scars – not just an acknowledgment of the breaks.

Every time I have broken apart and fallen to pieces, I am scarred. But every time I get back up again and I am stronger and I have more tools.

Where in your life have you practiced Kintsugi?
